Otherwise known as Nashville, Tennessee. I have had the great opportunity to take in what this city has to offer. I have also taken it for granted when I moved to Savannah. I never realized how much I would miss the music scene, and I am not just talking about country music. During this past quarter, the Black Keys announced a show that they were going to use for their new music video. The TV show Nashville is always doing casting extras and they freaking pay!
This past Wednesday, I was running some errands and decided to stop into the hunting and fly fishing store by my parents house. They had the new Orvis fly rods in and I was drooling over them. The two employee’s there told me that Josh Turner had been in earlier and Chris Young was in the back room checking out his new gun. I saw him leave. As I continued to drool over this rod, a man walked in with the name of Eric. No, I thought. Yes indeed, Eric Church walked in and asked me about fly fishing. I stared at him, smiled and bought Abbie a new dog bed. It has already been returned because I couldn’t believe I paid that much for a dog bed!
Friday, my dad and my best friend went to the Grand Ole Opry, at the Ryman to see Old Crow Medicine Show play. We were also backstage. Perks of the business. The Ryman is awesome.
The Mother Church of Country Music. We stood on that stage that so many greats have stood on. So cool. Old Crow played at the very end. Such an amazing group of guy who are so freaking talented. I also met Ketch from Old Crow. I was a little star struck.
Ketch is the nicest guy ever. He just stood there and talked to us for 30 minutes. He talked about everything! If he was my teacher, I could listen to him talk for ever. His voice is just amazing. Old Crow played three songs, Tear it Down from OCMS, Carry Me Back from their newest album, and Wagon Wheel. Ketch also asked to have a moment of silence for the horrible events the happened Friday in CT.
The amazing Little Jimmy! He is adorable. I have met him before, and he said he remembers it. Who knows! Striking Matches also preformed for the first time on the Opry stage. I must say, it was so neat to see their excitement before and after they finished their set. You might recognize this song, “When the Right One Comes Along,” from the show Nashville. These two wrote it! They are Belmont grads and I really hope to hear more from them soon!
This is why I love Music City, USA.
