New Year, New Beginnings

I am a little late on the whole new year, new you deal. So, a happy belated New Years to my short list of readers. It has been a busy past couple of months with work and school, and honestly not really wanting to write any blog posts because I was down in the dumps. Thanksgiving came and went, and then December arrived and it hit me that I was supposed to be leaving to head to Fiji. Actually, I would be there at this very moment. Yes, I am still a little bitter about the vents that occurred, even though you can’t control mother nature.

Honestly, it was a blessing in disguise. As most of you know I have rheumatoid arthritis. It is not something I talk a lot about on the web because I do not like to complain about it. It is a pain though, and for a while I was in remission, but as of August not anymore. I have gone through three rounds of infusions and finally after this last one it is helping. I have my next one in a few weeks and have started to notice the pain coming back. Cold weather also makes it worse. See, complaining.

I have also come to the realization that Nashville doesn’t  feel like home anymore. It feels like a stepping stone to wherever I end up next. Who knows where that will be, currently I am thinking out west. That could change next month, and it probably will. Because of the weird emotions I have been having I up and decided to delete Facebook this past Sunday, along with Tinder and OK Cupid. New year, new beginnings as I said.

There were some great times though. My family spent Thanksgiving and Christmas together for the first time in two years. My brother could not be here this year since he is doing the grown up internship year of his residency program. Family is amazing. Friends are amazing and when the blues hit you, they are what keeps you going, well for me at least.

I rang in the New Year with my best friend, Amber at the Old Crow Medicine Show Concert. Duh.

We have also enjoyed going to Predators games and planning our spring break! Hooray for being a student!

Speaking of hockey games, I also got to see one of my great friends who no longer lives here, the one and only Josh.

The spring semester started today and I am taking a full load of classes and working. I am still working on my 101 in 1001 list as well, along with wanting to travel and get outside more.

Things might be changing around the blog, but please do not leave me. I feel that I am discovering the person I want to be. Things could get interesting.

Unti next time.

From 30,000 Feet

I am sitting on the plane headed back to San Diego at the moment. Wifi on the long trip is amazing. The trip home was a great one. I could finally stay in the house, and on the houseboat! Mom is doing great, as well as Dad. I just missed my dog terribly. Abbie is at doggie camp, and from the email updates I have been getting she is having a blast. \

My arthritis is stil in remission, so that deserves a woohoo! My hearing not so much. The test I had in November was a fluke, and I am back to not so perfect hearing anymore. So no diving at the moment. This leads me to another thing….

I am no longer going to Fiji. Due to circumstances out of my control, mostly mother nature, I will be staying in the wonderful city of Nashville. I won’t get into all the issues on here, but I have come to terms with this and am happy. Everything happens for some kind of reason. Along the same lines, I applied for my first big girl job Monday. We will see what happens. I have one month left here in San Diego, so I intend to get the very best out of it. Maybe I will finally learn, or attempt to learn to surf. Might as well. My brother is hopefully going to be visiting me next weekend, then one of my best friends for Labor Day weekend, and finally my wonderful little is going to make the drive back with me to Nashville in September! We are planning on going to the Grand Canyon, so excited.

The lady sitting next to me is snoring, and it is only an hour into the flight.

Until next time.

Sunny San Diego

The sun is always shining here in San Diego. Fact.

The morning brings in all the moisture from the bay referred to as gloom and something else. Tomorrow starts the gloom June.

The first week involved going to Target just about everyday and an adventure in Ikea. I was not too impressed and too much stuff to put together. No thank you.

I went up to Cardiff By the Sea to head to the Patagonia store so I could pick up my brothers graduation gift. It is mostly Patagonia surfing essentials. Gorgeous area though.

This is Pipes Beach. Big breaks as a swell moved in that week. The surfer dudes were in heaven.

I ventured out to Fashion Valley Mall. HUGE. Expensive. Bad for my bank account.

I cooked my first meal in my studio, salmon.

I was hoping to go all seafood and no white or red meat, but I soon learned that seafood is very expensive out here.

Same with gas, $5.00 a galloon.

View from the pool deck of my building. Not too bad.

Every Saturday they have the Farmers Market two blocks over from my building. It is huge and there are all kinds of things there. Seafood, to meat, to veggies and fruit. It is all so yummy. I stocked up my freezer with some fresh meat from a local organic farm.

After that I drove up to La Jolla to check it out. Traffic galore. Gorgeous. Expensive cars, massive houses, nice cars, pretty people.

The next day I met up with some of my cousins on my Dads side of the family that live out here. They took me out to dinner in Seaport Village.

Also had a nice view of the naval base across the way.

The next day, Memorial Day, I went back to La Jolla for some kelp diving, but that is another post.

I also remembered that my birthday is tomorrow. 25. Lordy.

Welcome Back.

To reading.

So much has happened.

I have already mentioned Fiji, but in 6 days I will be moving to San Diego!

I will be there until early November doing an internship at the Maritime Museum of San Diego and working with object conservation. I also have the opportunity to help reproduce a Spanish galleon ship, and learn how

to sail the tall ship that is currently there.

Everything has worked out so perfectly, it is amazing.

I have moved back to Nashville and unpacked everything just to repack my clothes once more and pile it into my car for a 5 day drive out west.

My apartment is 5 blocks from where I will be working. It is also 450 square feet. TINY!

It will be awesome.

Now to update you wonderful readers on events that have occurred since in the last month.

Old Crow Medicine Show

Carry me back.

Carry me back.

Great show, just like always. They were there for the Savannah Music Festival.

I came home for Dad’s birthday and we went the Pred’s game. I also got great news from my rheumatoid arthritis doctor, I am in remission! JUMPING! I am slowly coming off some of these crazy medications. Finally. So happy.

I went up to Baltimore to visit my mom who is getting treatments for her smell issues.

I did all the touristy things, like the aquarium and the maritime museum there!

San Diego

This trip was solely to find an apartment, which I did.

Here is the neighborhood in which I will be living.

Little Italy

I also took the ferry over to Coronado and rode the bike around the island. I ended up on the Naval Base… I do not recommend doing that.

The Move Home

The day before I left for home, I got in a car wreck.

It was not my fault, and Lola got totaled. So I got a new car.

Other than that, not much has been going on besides packing and buying a camping table to serve as my kitchen table.

Oh yeah, I also went to South Beach, and saw Jimmy Buffett again. More on that later.

2 Month Update

I have said this before and I will say it again. I am the worst blogger of all time. School started stressing me out, midterms happened, and papers and projects took over my life. Yes, the quarter finished almost two months ago, but life got in the way. I am going to do an update through pictures of things that have happened. I promise that I will try my best to blog more now that I am on break!

Oysters at Table 3

Oysters at Table 3

If you have not been to Table 3, you must try it. They always have a great selection of oysters, and my mom swears that the fries are the best thing ever.

Dad and I at the NYC party

This was this past weekend at the Lebanon Airport for the Nashville Yacht Club Christmas Party in one of the members hanger. So much fun!

My family!

My family!

My Alpha Omicron Pi family has grown since 2008. The chapter went from 3 members to 35 now! I am one proud panda. A few are even missing from here too! ALAM!

Starting the next level!

Starting the next level!

I have started my Advanced Open Water Course with PADI! I got cleared to scuba dive, and also found out I no longer have hearing loss. Apparently I am weird.

New necklace

I bought this little anchor necklace from Red Earth Trading Company at their pop up shop in Hillsboro Village! Everyone needs to check them out.

Yes, this was Halloween. I was America. I even rode the bull at Saddlebags on River Street.

Blackjack Billy

Blackjack Billy

This band, Blackjack Billy, played at Saddlebags in October. Some classmates and I saw them and they are amazing. They are playing at the Wild Wing Cafe in Franklin, TN on December 20. Check them out.

Two amazing things

Two amazing things

I went to this new coffee shop in Green Hills called The Well to work on some things for my internship. I found these great little finds. Love Does is the title of a book that I have read by Bob Goff. Everyone should read it. The book from what I have heard is amazing. Can’t wait to start reading it!

I got my wisdom teeth out a week and half ago. I look lovely.

That’s it for tonight. I have lots to update on, but I will be saving those for other posts. Thanks for still reading.
